Extinction Rebellion protestors have been banned from camping near Windsor Castle after plans to break into restricted areas were exposed by MailOnline.

570px-Aisan_building_Kariya_Nichigeki.JPGPermission for up to 10,000 people to set up camp in Home Park has been withdrawn by the local council after they were made aware of the 'criminal' plans to storm the castle grounds as part of a publicity stunt.

Windsor Council had initially given the go ahead for the camp after Thames Valley Police said they had no objections to the three day demo from August 30th - September 1st.

But after MailOnline revealed the main demo would provide a distraction while hard core activists to break into restricted areas of the castle and chain themselves to the perimeter fence the council axed permission for XR.

The decision to cancel the camp throws the climate change group's plans into disarray.

Just Stop Oil co-founder Roger Hallam brands judge who jailed him for five years 'a fanatic'

'Following Extinction Rebellion publicly announcing their intention to demonstrate in the borough on 8 July, we engaged with organisers who made us aware they planned to hold a larger event and we requested their event plan, which we received on 2 August.

'This detailed a festival style event with overnight camping and other licensable activity on a council manged park.

'It is this element of their plans which we have considered and cannot support.'

A Thames Valley spokesman said any criminal behaviour will be dealt with 'swifltly and robustly'

The spokesman said: 'We have been in contact with the organisers and are working closely with partners to put a comprehensive plan in place to facilitate peaceful protest and ensure the safety of all those in attendance and other members of the public.

The action was planned to take place even after other XR leaders including co-founder Roger Hallam were jailed for causing disruption and criminal damage

'We will not tolerate criminal behaviour and those choosing to commit offences can expect to be dealt with swiftly and robustly.'

XR was set to create a diversion on The Long Walk with the red robed troupe of performers often seen at their demos.

According to a confidential report obtained by MailOnline this would allow others to get into areas that are strictly out of bounds to members of the public.

The group hope the publicity from storming the castle will help boost their profile and enhance their demands for a Citizens Assembly to be established to tackle the climate crisis.

A risk assessment into the demo from August 30th to September 1st was ordered from the ASG Group by a local business after the Crown Estate and local council gave approval for the demo.

Their report reveals a highly cynical move with XR organisers asking for elderly and disabled activists to attend the three-day demo as they know police would have a harder job removing them.

The group discussed how the 'optics' of police having to remove an elderly person would be in their favour.
